You are invited to an introduction to “Traditional Old Style Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage” through our entry level 1 training. It is a lineage based authentic Hawaiian style massage that has been passed down ritually through lineage form to Dawn Charlton after completing a 4-year one-on-one apprenticeship both in Hawaii and Australia. Dawn is teaching this massage, just as it was taught hundreds of years ago in its purest form and is the only person worldwide able to teach this modality and style. It will be of interest to you, if you are sincerely interested in learning this tradition in its most basic, and “unpolluted” way.

We now have ‘Full Retreat Stay’ (accommodation, food, use of the retreat facilities and full tuition included) and also our ‘Day Stay’ option available (subject to availability, lunch, pool use and full tuition included). Use of the retreat facilities for ‘Day Stay’ guests will come at an additional cost.

What you will learn

You will be shown how this tradition was developed and passed on in its protected way for hundreds of years. Dawn became the first non-Hawaiian and woman to be passed this honour from her Kahu and mentor, Sherman Dudoit (now known as Raman Das), who dedicated nearly thirty years of his life to carrying this “way” all over the world, and how the “passing on” has come to Australia, which is the cradle of the ancient ways.

Level 1 training is a complete therapy that covers all main regions of the body, including the back; neck; chest; stomach; arms; hands; legs; feet and face. This form of Lomi Lomi is a restorative Hawaiian massage that works gently, yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes. This allows the recipient to completely relax due to the hypnotic effect, bringing the mind to a place of absolute stillness. Touch, rhythm and ancient wisdom come together, allowing healing to occur.

The basic concepts of energy work is covered, such as connecting with the receiver, setting up your intent and taking care not to draw on your cellular energy. You will be taught to empower yourself to go within to find the answers, to allow the natural healing energies to flow by focusing on pure intent. Also basic concepts of how to drape the body with a sarong so that the client feels safe and comfortable; oiling up the body so that it feels like part of the treatment are all covered.

The long, continuous strokes are designed to help the body let go of its old patterns and behaviours, which can cause as many stresses and strains as muscle tension. Through its rhythm and patterns, it activates meridians, energy points, releases energetic blocks and allows the body’s own healing processes to take over.
